Pizza Rustica
A savory Easter pie filled with cheese, eggs, and cured meats, a hearty and traditional Italian dish.
Ingredients
- 200 g Cheese Blocks
- 175g Bacon
- 175g Sliced Deli Ham
- 1/2 cup, cold Butter
- 6 large Eggs
- 3 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Ice Water
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare pie crust: Combine flour and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water and mix until dough forms. Divide in half, roll out each half.
- Line a pie dish with one crust. Layer cheese, bacon, ham, and beaten eggs seasoned with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
- Cover with the second crust, seal edges, and cut slits for steam to escape.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is set.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
