Gourmet Poutine Lunch Bowl with Crispy Onions
An elevated, deconstructed version of classic Canadian poutine, with crispy fries, rich gravy, cheese curds, and crispy fried onions.
Ingredients
- 1 package (750g), high-quality Straight Cut French Fried Potatoes
- 3 cups, homemade or high-quality store-bought Beef Gravy
- 1.5 cups, fresh Cheese Curds
- To taste Salt
- To taste Black Pepper
- 1 large, thinly sliced Onion
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- For frying Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- Prepare Crispy Onions: Toss thinly sliced onions with all-purpose flour. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot. Fry onions in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
- Bake fries according to package directions until crispy and golden brown. Season with salt and pepper immediately after removing from the oven.
- While fries are baking, heat beef gravy in a saucepan until simmering.
- Divide fries into bowls, top generously with fresh cheese curds, and pour hot beef gravy over the curds.
- Garnish with crispy fried onions. Serve immediately.
