Gochujang Beef Stir-Fry with Rice (Korean)
A spicy and savory beef stir-fry with a flavorful gochujang sauce, served over steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 450 g Beef Sirloin or Ribeye
- 2 tbsp Gochujang Paste
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1, thinly sliced Red Bell Pepper
- 3, thinly sliced Green Onions
- 1.5 cups Basmati Rice
- 1 tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- To taste Salt and Black Pepper
Instructions
- Cook basmati rice according to package directions.
- Slice beef into thin strips against the grain. Marinate the beef strips with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and black pepper for at least 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk together gochujang paste, remaining soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, sesame oil, and minced garlic.
- Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat until it's very hot. Add marinated beef in a single layer (work in batches to avoid overcrowding) and stir-fry until browned and cooked through.
- Add sliced red bell pepper and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until slightly tender-crisp.
- Pour the gochujang sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir-fry until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables evenly, about 2 minutes.
- Serve over steamed rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
