General Tso's Chicken with Broccoli
Crispy chicken coated in a tangy and slightly spicy General Tso's sauce, served with steamed broccoli and rice.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb Chicken Drumsticks
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar
- 3 tbsp Sugar
- 3 cloves, minced Garlic
- 1 tbsp, grated Ginger
- 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 lb Broccoli Crowns
- 3 cups Cooked Rice
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
Instructions
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. Marinate with a pinch of salt, pepper and 2 tbsp cornstarch for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup cornstarch with 1/4 cup water to make a slurry.
- Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
- In a wok or large skillet, heat 1 tbsp sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cook until fragrant.
- Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, cornstarch slurry, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour sauce into the wok and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until slightly thickened.
- Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.
- Steam broccoli until tender-crisp.
- Serve chicken and broccoli over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
