Canadian Poutine Inspired Potato Bowl
Ingredients
- 3 medium, cut into fries Potatoes
- 3, sliced Wieners
- 1/4 medium, finely chopped Onions
- 1 cup, a mix of mozzarella and cheddar Shredded Cheese
- 3 cups, for frying Vegetable Oil
- 1 can (900ml) Beef Broth
- 2 tbsp Corn Starch
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- to taste Salt and Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp, chopped Fresh Parsley
Instructions
- Cut potatoes into fries. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels; season immediately with salt.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Whisk in corn starch until smooth, then gradually whisk in beef broth.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- In individual bowls, layer french fries, shredded cheese (mozzarella and cheddar), and sliced wieners.
- Pour the hot gravy generously over the fries and cheese, allowing the cheese to melt.
- Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
