Churro Bites with Chocolate Dipping Sauce (Mexican)
Mini churro bites coated in cinnamon sugar, served with a rich chocolate dipping sauce, a delightful Mexican-inspired dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 large Eggs
- For frying Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 100 g, finely chopped Milk Chocolate
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 1 Pinch of Salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in all the flour at once using a wooden spoon until a smooth ball forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Let cool slightly for a few minutes. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain the correct temperature.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Carefully pipe short lengths of dough into the hot oil. Fry in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow bowl, combine sugar and ground cinnamon.
- While still warm, roll the churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
- For the chocolate dipping sauce, melt finely chopped milk chocolate with milk in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water (or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between) until smooth. Stir until well combined.
- Serve the warm churro bites immediately with the chocolate dipping sauce for dipping.
