American Black Bean Burgers
Delicious black bean burgers with Southwestern-inspired spices, served on gluten-free buns with flavorful toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Black Beans, canned, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup Cooked Brown Rice
- 1/4 cup Red Onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin
- 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 Gluten-Free Burger Buns
- 1 leaf Lettuce
- 1 Tomato Slice
- 1/4 Avocado Slice
- 2 tbsp Salsa
Instructions
- Thoroughly drain and rinse canned black beans. This reduces excess moisture.
- Mash black beans in a bowl, leaving some whole for texture.
- Add cooked brown rice, finely chopped red onion, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika.
- Mix well until ingredients are evenly distributed. The mixture should hold together when pressed.
- Form the mixture into a patty. If the mixture is too wet, add a tablespoon of gluten-free breadcrumbs or oat flour.
- Cook patty in a non-stick pan over medium heat with a little olive oil, approximately 5-7 minutes per side, until heated through and slightly crispy.
- Serve on a gluten-free bun with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and salsa.
- Optionally, toast the gluten-free bun for better texture.
