Canadian Poutine Potato Bites with Smoked Paprika
Miniature poutines made with roasted potato rounds, cheese curds, and rich gravy, seasoned with smoked paprika.
Ingredients
- 2 medium, russet potatoes recommended Potatoes
- 1 cup Fresh Cheese Curds
- 1.5 tsp Beef, Chicken & Vegetable Soup Base
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- to taste Salt and Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Slice potatoes into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Toss with vegetable oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Arrange potato rounds in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and tender.
- While potatoes are roasting, prepare the gravy. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Add beef/chicken bouillon base and a pinch of smoked paprika. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- To assemble, top each roasted potato round with cheese curds and a generous spoonful of gravy. Serve immediately while the cheese is still melty.
