Canadian Mushroom and Cheese Melts
Open-faced sandwiches with sautéed mushrooms and melted cheese on toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 250g, sliced Mushrooms
- 6 slices Bread slices
- 150g Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp Dried thyme
- To taste Salt
- To taste Black pepper, freshly ground
Instructions
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until softened and lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season with garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
- Toast bread slices lightly.
- Top each slice with sautéed mushrooms and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Broil in the oven until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2-3 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
