Canadian Bacon and Cheese Strata
A hearty and savory strata with layers of Canadian bacon, cheese, and bread soaked in an egg custard.
Ingredients
- 6 slices White bread
- 6 slices Canadian bacon
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 6 Large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- Pinch Nutmeg
- To taste Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Grease a baking dish.
- Cube the bread and arrange half of it in the dish.
- Top with half of the Canadian bacon and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat layers with the remaining bread, Canadian bacon, and mozzarella cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and bacon layers. Gently press down on the bread to ensure it's submerged.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and set. If the top is browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
