Masala Oats Upma
A savory and quick breakfast made with oats, vegetables and Indian spices.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
- 1/4 cup, chopped Yellow Onion
- 1/4 cup, chopped Green Bell Pepper
- 1 tbsp, chopped Green Onion
- 1/2 cube Bouillon Cube
- 1/2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 5-6 Curry Leaves
- 1 tsp Vegetable Oil
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tbsp, chopped Cilantro
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a few seconds.
- Add chopped onion and saute until translucent.
- Add chopped green pepper and green onion, saute until softened.
- Add turmeric powder and red chili powder, saute for another minute to bloom the spices.
- Add rolled oats and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add water and crumbled bouillon cube, bring to a boil. Reduce heat immediately.
- Cover and cook until oats are cooked and water is absorbed.
- Stir in lemon juice and cilantro. Serve hot.
