Apple Crumble with Organic Oats and Spiced Streusel Topping
A warm apple crumble, topped with a buttery oat topping and a hint of cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 4 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup Cane Sugar
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, ground
- 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Thick Rolled Oats
- 1/4 cup Cane Sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Cold Butter, cubed
- 1/8 tsp Pinch of Salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, 1/4 cup Cane Sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat evenly.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, Thick Rolled Oats, Cane Sugar, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Do not overmix to keep the topping tender.
- Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. Check for doneness by inserting a fork into the apples—they should be easily pierced.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
