American BBQ Tempeh Sandwich (Vegetarian, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free)
Smoky tempeh slices with BBQ sauce and a tangy slaw on a gluten-free bun.
Ingredients
- 4 oz Tempeh, sliced
- 2-3 tbsp BBQ Sauce (Gluten-Free, Vegan)
- 1 Gluten-Free Bun
- 1/4 cup Shredded Cabbage
- 1 tbsp Carrot, shredded
- 1 tbsp Vegan Mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/4 tsp Brown Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 tsp Olive Oil
Instructions
- Prepare the slaw by mixing shredded cabbage, shredded carrot, vegan mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and smoked paprika in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan. Add the tempeh slices.
- Cook the tempeh slices over medium heat until lightly browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Brush the tempeh with BBQ sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes, turning to coat evenly.
- Lightly toast the gluten-free bun.
- Assemble the sandwich: place BBQ tempeh on the bun and top with a generous amount of slaw.
