American Black Bean Burgers
Flavorful black bean burgers served in a gluten free bun or over salad.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Cooked Black Beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup Cooked Brown Rice
- 1/4 cup Oats (Gluten-Free)
- 1/4 cup Red Onion, finely diced
- 1 tsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin
- 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- to taste Salt
- to taste Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Gluten-Free Buns or Lettuce Wraps
- to taste Your Favorite Toppings (Avocado, Salsa, etc.)
- to taste Lime Juice, to taste
Instructions
- Mash about half of the black beans in a bowl using a fork or potato masher. Leave the other half relatively whole.
- Add cooked rice, oats, red onion, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well until thoroughly combined. Add a squeeze of lime juice.
- Form mixture into a patty. Make sure it is firm enough to hold its shape; add more oats if needed.
- Cook the patty on a skillet or grill over medium heat, until heated through and nicely browned, about 6-8 minutes per side. You can also bake at 375F for 20-25 minutes.
- Serve on a gluten-free bun or lettuce wraps with your favorite toppings.
