Gourmet Peanut Butter and Banana French Toast with Salted Caramel Drizzle
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons Western Family Smooth Peanut Butter (Natural)
- 4 slices, thick-cut Country Harvest Bread (Challah or Brioche)
- 1, sliced Ripe banana
- 2 large Eggs (free-range)
- 1/4 cup Half-and-half
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract (Bourbon)
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
- To taste Maple Syrup (Grade A Dark)
- 2 tablespoons (store-bought or homemade) Salted caramel sauce
- Pinch Flaked sea salt
Instructions
- Spread natural peanut butter evenly on two thick-cut slices of challah or brioche bread. Arrange the banana slices over the peanut butter, then top with the remaining two slices of bread to create sandwiches.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the free-range eggs, half-and-half, cinnamon, and Bourbon vanilla extract until well combined.
- Melt unsalted butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Ensure the skillet is properly heated to prevent the French toast from sticking.
- Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are thoroughly coated. Allow the bread to soak for a few seconds to absorb the mixture fully.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Ensure even browning by monitoring the heat and flipping carefully.
- Remove from the skillet and slice each sandwich in half. Drizzle generously with salted caramel sauce and a pinch of flaked sea salt. Serve immediately with Grade A Dark maple syrup on the side.
