Thai Basil Beef Stir-Fry (Low-Sodium, Enhanced)

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Slice beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness. This is important to preserve the beef quality
  2. In a bowl, whisk together low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, stevia, sesame oil, and fish sauce (if using).
  3. Heat a large wok or heavy skillet over high heat. Add half of the beef and stir-fry quickly until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from the wok and set aside. Repeat with the remaining beef.
  4. Add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the wok and stir-fry for 15-20 seconds until very fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add the sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened
  6. Return all of the beef to the wok. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the beef and vegetables. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the beef and vegetables, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and immediately stir in the fresh Thai basil leaves. The residual heat will wilt the basil and release its aroma.
  8. Serve immediately.
