Leftover Pasta Sauce Sandwiches
A warm and comforting sandwich using leftover pasta sauce and pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
- 6 slices Bread
- 1.5 cups Leftover Pasta Sauce
- 1.5 cups Shredded Cheese
- 2 tbsp Butter or Olive Oil
- 1/4 tsp (optional) Garlic Powder
- 1/4 tsp (optional) Dried Oregano or Basil
Instructions
- If using butter, melt butter in a pan over medium heat. If using olive oil, heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Brush one side of each slice of bread with melted butter or olive oil. Sprinkle the buttered side with garlic powder and dried herbs, if using.
- Spread pasta sauce evenly on 3 slices of bread.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the pasta sauce.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter/oil-side up.
- Cook in the skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey. Press down gently with a spatula to encourage even browning.
- Cut in half and serve immediately.
